Running Maniacs

Joe and I have been crazy running people lately. It has got to stop!  We have some friends in our church ward who are really enthusiastic about running.  One woman has run 11 marathons, another man ran a 100 mile ultra last year, others have run multiple other kinds of races.  It's amazing.  Somehow we got caught up in their enthusiasm and found ourselves signed up and training for a trail run called the Laurel Highlands Ultra next week. We've known about it for months.  In fact, we've been training in the winter, sometimes when the weather was in the teens and there was a windchill.  And many of the days we woke at 5 a.m. to get our training in.  In the dark and cold.  Crazy.  But now the race is finally upon us and we run it this coming Saturday.  After all of the training, I hope we're ready!

This is a photo of my two friends Kristin, Amy and I after a 14 mile run.  Our runs in the race are 19 miles, 13 miles and 14 miles - up some pretty steep and rocky terrain.  We're on a team of 5 ladies who will cover 70 miles together.

Here's a photo of Joe and some other men who had just completed a marathon.  But it wasn't just on nice, flat pavement - it was through the woods and up steep hills etc.  This was just a training run for their run this coming Saturday.  They're each going to run 31 miles in the race.
And one of our friends is running 70 miles by himself.  Crazy!!  Wish us luck!
