Snow Day - finally!!

We've had a very snowless year this year.  We DID have school cancelled at one point for the threat of a huge snowstorm, but we only got a dusting that time.  On the first day of Spring Break, though, we had a lovely little storm.  Maggie was baffled, since she'd gotten out all of her summer clothes and had been wearing them. She couldn't get her mind around the fact that it could snow in the spring-time.  Obviously she didn't grow up in Minnesota.
We took full advantage of the brief time the snow would be around (forecasts for the next couple of days were for highs in the 50s, so we knew it would melt fast) and ran over to the hill by Marshall Rd. Elementary.
Samuel was GIDDY and loved every minute of it.  He never got cold and cried when we finally had to leave.  The kids took turns taking him down the hill.

Here's Joshua about to take Sam down:
Aaron is going off a jump in this picture.  I think he had a stomach ache after the landing.
JP, Aaron, Sam, and Josh in the back:
Maggie was also fearless - she was never sad and had a great time.
Since Dan got his first concussion on this very hill, we decided to take a few precautions, one of which was for him to wear a helmet.  We've been having him wear a helmet a lot.  In fact, I think he should just wear one always, along with a facemask (he just scraped half of his cheek off the other day).
Margaret contemplating the hill:
I wish you could hear this picture.  He did a lot of cackling and loved going down on his own, even though he was more likely to get dumped out of the sled.

Maggie and Sam don't always get along at this age, so it's always nice to see them happy together.  Maggie was being a very good big sister and happily taking Sammy down.
Maggie, Jonah, JP, Samuel, Aaron:
The kids started having races down the hill. In this race, someone sits at the bottom and tells a little story.  When the "special word" is said (that they've agreed upon before the story starts), they all jump on their sleds and race to the bottom.

I love this one where Dan and Jonah are totally airborne:

It was a great start to Spring Break.  Afterward we went home and had hot chocolate and cinnamon sugar toast.  Yum.  Now bring on Spring!
